While the statue is kept behind glass for protection, the right hand, holding an orb, is outside the glass. You can touch the orb and make a wish or say a prayer.

5. Visit Santa Cova de Montserrat
Santa Cova de Montserrat is a popular attraction at Montserrat Monastery because of its connection with the legend of Our Lady of Montserrat.
It is here that the image of the Virgin was miraculously discovered many centuries ago.
When the Moors invaded Spain, locals hid the image of the Virgin in a cave in the mountainside. In the ensuing decades of Moslem rule, the location was forgotten until years later, some local shepherd boys were led to the spot by a beam of light and the sound of singing.
