Can I visit Montserrat Monastery for free?
Only if you are a resident of Spain! Visitors from outside Spain have to pay an entry fee for a tourist visit to Montserrat Monastery in Catalonia, Spain.
You can attend Mass on Sunday at the Basilica de Montserrat for free even if you are a visitor from outside Spain, but a reservation is mandatory, and you cannot wander around the interior of the basilica while the service is in progress.
As a tourist, you are better off paying the entrance fee for a combination ticket if you want to conserve time and efficiently visit the complex.
