Also known as the Stairway of Understanding, this famous sculpture at Montserrat was created by Josep Maria Subirachs, a famous Spanish painter and sculptor.

Subirachs created the Stairway to Heaven in 1976, as a monument to Majorca philosopher Ramon Llull and represents Llull’s views on the different aspects of creation.

The Stairway to Heaven consists of a stack of nine rectangular concrete blocks, arranged in a helical pattern.
